Water
Water, of course, is not an option. No matter how clever you are
or otherwise prepared. The question is not if you are going to
haul water, but how. The logistics of this commodity makes
access to a suitable cart (see transportation) even more important.
If you are not on a bottled water diet, and you have a suitable
cart, you can use a sturdy plastic trash can for the storage and
hauling of potable water. I would not recommend using a two-
wheeled cart for hauling in such containers however, since the
back-and-forth inertia of the water could make it very unstable.
A faucet can be attached to the bottom of such a container by using only a few off-the-shelf
components.
A half-inch threaded hose bib
A 1-1/2” to 1/2” galvanized bell reducer
A 1-1/2” P-trap adapter (but the compression ring and nut are not used)
A couple “O” rings just big enough to fit over the threads
Teflon tape for sealing the threads

The plastic piece and one of the “O” rings are mounted on the inside, with the thread protruding
through a 2” hole. The second “O” ring is then placed over the threads, Teflon tape is applied,
and the bell reducer is crewed on to compress the wall of the can between the two “O” rings.
It is likely that the outer “O” ring would not be necessary.
