Rebuilding The World

I have seen a bit of history. I have lived the emotional roller coasters of youth, love, mortal combat, marriage, raising children, career cycles, and the deaths of family and friends. I have seen what works, what doesn't work, and plenty of the selfishness that keeps anything from working for anybody.

Most of technosmith.com is arranged in a relational order where you can quickly zero in on your area of interest. Here I place things in a more linear sequence, so you can view the broader picture.

Why Bother?

Culture, economy, and environment are undergoing rapid decay. I offer direction and hope for those who are concerned about these trends. Bear with me as I very briefly highlight a few basic problem areas.

culture

Hollywood has taught us how to drink to oblivion, cheat on our spouses, and to kill without a conscience – to include the wholesale slaughter of our unborn children.

The news media, public education, and advertisers join the party to mock leadership values, destroy morality, and to entice us to consume far more than we can afford.

economy

Federal-level politicians have debt-enslaved us to foreign banking interests who provide no service but to lend us money they print at the expense of our government. They confiscate our money for their own purposes, and to finance enforcement agencies that monitor and control all aspects of our lives. This began with the yet unratified (and therefore illegal) Federal Reserve Act of 1913 which placed our finances under the control of European bankers. The Department of Treasury which is under their control provides the Secret Service, which holds the very life of the president. This group also controls the National Guard.

environment

When we need something mined somewhere else we damage someone else's back yard. When we consume it at home, usually its residues will damage our own back yard. It's better for all when the raw materials used are consumed close to where they are produced. These resources are diminishing and the costs of things like energy and metals are increasing every year. We will not always be able to afford them.

Selecting Priorities

The common denominators of these problems are the cultures that caused them, and the infrastructures upon which they depend. Although we cannot compete with the global powers that shape American culture and infrastructure, we do have options at the local level. A shift towards local sustainability is ultimately the only path of escape from increasing poverty and slavery.

The power of politics is in the control of things people want or need. Such power is not fed by people who acquire shelter, food, etc. by means that minimize government control and supervision. The question now becomes one of defining an “off-grid” Infrastructure that could be occupied by a Culture of our own choosing.
